COMING SOON. Although this Williamsburg townhouse was built at the turn of the 21st century, it suffered from the same drawback that many New York City townhouses often do, a lack of daylight through its length. Since new openings in the facade were not an option, we reworked the ground floor to take more advantage of the available light. We moved the kitchen from the dark center to the back facing the garden. We also opened up a stair to a small but treasured den in the basement so that it had more of a connection to the ground floor living space and more light from the windows above. We installed lighter wide-plank white oak flooring that was much brighter than the previous floor and built a new kitchen, shelving in the living space and a new powder room on the ground floor.
