PROGRAM: duplex apartment

In this renovation project, we combined our client’s existing apartment in a pre-war building with an apartment they purchased on the floor below. The renovation was completed on time, within the six-month period the building coop allowed for construction before charging a fee, and it was on budget. Being able to so quickly complete a construction project of this scope was in part due to planning and the thoroughly detailed drawing set we created before any work started. 

While not every corner of the apartment was renovated, significant improvements took place throughout. Floors were refinished, the kitchen was remodeled and opened up to the adjacent living spaces, new rooms were created, windows replaced, and bathrooms were renovated. Extensive structural steel work was done to create the opening in the floor between the two apartments that accommodates the new curving stair.
