A mid-century A-frame kit home had reached the end of its first life, and it was time for a rebirth. But our clients did not want to disturb the cedar interior and beach-house informality that they had liked in the first place. One problem we had to solve was the fact that there was no front door. Instead, entry into and out of the house was through a kitchen door that leads to a backyard. We flipped the entry to the other side, proposed to landscape the driveway and create a front entry volume visible from the parking area. For the interior we proposed a new kitchen, bathroom, and finishes throughout.
